Butterfly Place Mats
By Judi Kauffman

Sheer and fragile papers that would not be suitable for place mats suddenly become durable and sturdy when you laminate them! Add die cut shapes like the butterflies, pieces of metallic ribbon or braid, and your table will look like it’s been visited by Cinderella.

Materials:

  • Banner American laminating pouches

  • QuikFinish laminating machine

  • Sheer rice paper napkins or mulberry paper

  • Die cut mulberry paper shapes (Shown: Butterflies from Sanook Paper division of Janlynn Corp., (www.janlynn.com)

  • Metallic braid, ribbon, thread or other fine scale fibers

Instructions:

Step 1: Put a placemat size laminating pouch inside the carrier that is used to feed it through the laminating machine. Open the carrier and pouch so you can arrange the elements inside the pouch.

Step 2: Arrange sheer papers, die cuts and fibers. Close the pouch and the carrier. Laminate the place mat.

Step 3: HINT: Fibers and die cuts tend to shift inside the laminating pouch if you have to move it around a lot, so working inside the pouch with the pouch inside the carrier is a VERY good way to ensure that everything stays in place!
