The next best thing to traveling the country with Darla and Dave is having them share their memories and their photographs. Photo calendars are the gift that lasts a whole year and well beyond if you cut off the top part to use for postcards or table mats.
Most computers have calendar software, so create one yourself if you want. You can also buy pre-printed calendar pages designed and ready for adding pictures.
Simply decide on a size and laminate your calendar. You can put the entire year on one page or make a page for each month. Coil- or disk-bind the calendar if you want all the pages held together, or simply hang the pages one at a time. Add an easel back if you want to make a smaller size calendar that can stand on the desk or kitchen counter. Make photo calendar postcards to save the date for a special event or to celebrate for a whole month when someone has a birthday,
anniversary or graduation. You could even make bookmark size calendars for your book club, adding a photo of the cover of the book you are reading that month!
HINT: Turn a year-long calendar and photo so both are horizontal and you can make a wonderful place mat. Let your children write, draw and decorate the margins before you laminate the mat.
Just because the calendars shown have plain white backgrounds doesn’t mean yours have to! Use rubber stamps, patterned papers, collage, stickers, or whatever you want. Circle important dates, make notes - this is your calendar!
The possibilities are endless.
