Artist Trading Cards (ATCs)
By Judi Kauffman

ATCs are all the rage! The small scale format allows for maximum creativity in a minimum of time. The rules are simple. Artist Trading Cards can be traded but not sold and they must be 2.5” x 3.5” in size. Other than that, the sky’s the limit.

Laminated ATCs are fun to make. The laminating pouch does much of the work, holding layers together and allowing you to make cards out of materials that are fragile and would not otherwise hold up.

Materials:

  • Banner American laminating pouches (several cards can be made at one time in larger pouches)

  • QuikFinish laminating machine

  • Colored foil

  • Handmade paper or gift tissue

  • Stickers or old photos (shown: Bottle Cap Stickers and Tim Holtz Distressables from Design Originals, (www.d-originals.com)

  • Solid color card stock for backing (optional)

  • Die cutting machine with playing card size die (shown: AccuCut C1421L)

  • Option: Cut cards to size with ruler and straight edge and use a corner rounder punch

Instructions:

Step 1: Crumple foil. Flatten it with a brayer or your hand. Layer torn papers and stickers on top, keeping all elements within the 2.5” x 3.5” size of the finished ATC.

TIP: Cut a window in a piece of card stock to make sure your arrangement fits.

Step 2: Laminate and die cut the ATCs.
