Quick & Easy Refrigerator Magnet Alphabet
By Judi Kauffman
Project of the Month, November, 2006

I want to thank my friend Darla for this idea. When I got my Banner American QuikFinish Laminating Machine she said she thought it would be fun to make refrigerator magnets for little visitors. She was talking, of course, about her own grandchildren! So thank you Darla, and for those of you with kids who like to play in the kitchen, here is a super easy project you can make together.

Materials:

  • Banner American QuikFinish Laminating Machine

  • Laminating pouch (size is determined by the alphabet you choose)

  • Cookbookin' Recipe Scrapbooking card stock alphabet stickers - #8015 What's Cookin'

  • Adhesive backed magnets (strips, squares, or sheets to cut)

  • Scissors

Instructions:

Step 1: Separate the alphabet stickers from the backing sheet. Arrange stickers inside the laminating pouch, leaving at least half an inch between them.

Step 2: Laminate the stickers. Cut them out leaving a narrow clear border on all sides.

Step 3: Attach an adhesive-backed magnet to the back of each letter.

Options:
Make your own letter or number blocks with rubber stamps or a computer.
Design alphabets and numbers with markers, paint, colored pencils or collage.
Find letters and numbers in magazines.
Cut up a sheet of alphabet print paper.
Laminate words instead of individual letters so you can write magnetic messages, lists, stories, or poems.
